The Globe Trotter
If quotes remind us of people, then the one where Carrie Bradshaw said “I’d like a cheeseburger, large fries and a cosmopolitan”, clearly reminded me of A. This sassy girl with a 24k attitude is real and completely one cool cat. I could not be happier she often rocks this mismatched South Sea Pearl combination we made for her. #pearlsmadecool
The Beautiful Foodie
There are simple classics in life, good food, good friends and giant pearl studs that just hang casually off your ears. This beautiful foodie with a taste for the finer things in life thrilled us when she tasked us to hunt giant South Sea Pearls for her. Earrings which no doubt will be legend, as pearls this size are becoming harder and harder to find.
A Castle & God
Named after a famous Princess, J had often joked with M that he has to give her a castle someday and so he wanted to feature it in his proposal ring to her. More importantly however, he wanted a ring designed with God represented. Using baguette diamonds, we build “turrets” to represent the Castle but they also came together as a Cross. A loving reminder that with God in the center, everything will fall into place.
Matt & Estella
I will always remember the day when Matt stepped into my office and honoured me with his commission. Not only did I get to work with the diamond his Grandmother passed down, our design session involved me putting on music while he sketched images he wanted to include into their significant rings. The eventual ring features Estella’s art, the signature Peranakan floral tile which can seen on the wall mural by Ripple Root at Keong Saik Road. This organic floral ring is one of the most amazing rings we have ever designed and we are so proud it’s all Estella’s own.
It is the dream of every artist to meet a Patron who trust you and allow you to create the art you imagine. For me, this was the case with M & D. Of their commissions, the Origami Diamond & Sapphire Crane Earrings show that they really understand “wearable art” in the form of jewellery. Indeed, equal parts classic & equal parts cool, they are Dream Patrons for the range they have allowed me to create.
Moved My Soul
A beloved client came one day with a few packets of mixed shaped jade pieces. In the yellowed papers that wrapped them, there was a beautiful handwriting that echoed the voice of her father. A great man she wanted to remember by creating a piece she could wear close to her heart. His love for Bonsai, her love for him. It moved my soul. This is a piece that defines the work I do. Deeply meaningful. Deeply moving.
To Have and To Hold
While attending K+N’s wedding their pastor told me the rings I make are part of God’s work. He explained long after the beauty of the perfect wedding day, the rings last as a daily reminder that they are joined, to have and to hold always. A perfect circle of never-ending love. I treasure these words and am blessed to be a part of the sacred vow of love.
To See Her Smile
From the first day when D walked into my atelier, it was obvious that the center of his decisions would be to see YX smile. He considered every detail, going through almost 30 spinels before he found the right shade he knew would look perfect on her. When he shared the photos of his proposal and I saw the smiles on their faces, I knew why. Her happiness is his happiness.
